Composition Recommendations:

  • Should portray the rich historic feel of The Italian Hill district, landmarks, events, etc as appropriate, and hopefully be a draw to visitors to document their Hill experience on social media.
  • Visual references to Volpi heritage may be included within the mural, but artists should avoid overt commercial or brand messages. Artists may use word and image references from themes including Italian immigrants, to the history of Volpi Foods (the oldest continually operating Salumeria in America), to the rich and varied history of the Hill itself (St. Ambrose Catholic Church)
  • In order to make the adjacent Volpi Store sign aesthetically blend with the mural, we are asking the artist to paint the adjacent Volpi store sign in complementary style to the mural.
